One of the challenges for parents seeking a quality Montessori education program is that the term “Montessori” is not regulated. Therefore, any school can call itself a Montessori school without actually having any Montessori-trained staff. While this usually isn’t the case, it is important for parents to meet the classroom teachers and to see for themselves whether or not the teachers demonstrate those attitudes that are central to Montessori teaching:

  1. Do the teachers show respect for each student’s individuality?

  2. Do they allow children to explore concepts on their own?

  3. Do they foster a sense of community in the classroom?

At Children’s House, we are proud that both of our teachers are Montessori-certified. Their years of training shows in the success of our students.

Certification matters

Ms. Rose Marie has been teaching at CHOT since 2002. She has carefully honed the program so students get the most out of their experience here. From teaching 3-year olds how to roll a rug to introducing kindergartners to the trinomial cube, our teachers have created an exceptional learning program that establishes a strong foundation for young students.

Joining our teachers in the classroom is at least one classroom assistant, shown here reading an audio book with some 4-year olds. The school also serves as an internship site for students at the University of Mary Washington who are interested in early childhood education careers.
